FirstClass CSD Setup


Client to use is FirstClass Client 11.063

This is the process to download and install FirstClass on your home computer.  This is the same process for PC or Mac.  To set the server or fix time out or kick off issues see below for ways to correct that issue.

To install the FirstClass Client Follow instructions below.  


First go to http://www.firstclass.com with your Internet browser (IE, or Firefox, or what every you use)

We want to use the previous version so click here when you see Previous versions of the FirstClass client are available here

Choose the 11.063 version you need for your computer.  US or Canadian English are very similar and shouldn't matter which one you choose

This will put a file on your desktop (or where ever the default download area or where you told it do download)

Double click the file you just downloaded.  (Many times it is set to download to your desktop.)


Agree and click yes or Ok to all installation questions.
Once you have it installed it will open the FirstClass program.  You need to tell the client where the server is.  Click the Advanced arrow button on the bottom left..

Click the setup button near the bottom right.

In the Server:  area type
fc.clearview.ab.ca       which is Clearview’s FirstClass Server
Click the save button.

This is what it should look like after you type the fc.clearview.ab.ca  info  (Mac version on the left and PC version on the right)

Now you should see the server in the main login window (above).  Click the Advanced button to make the login window smaller again

Now that you see the server in the Server: section you can log in with your UserID and Password

Troubleshooting Tips:

This will get you to our server.  If this doesn't work try typing the IP number 199.216.121.11 where you typed fc.clearview.ab.ca.  
If that doesn't work make sure the network you are on can ping 199.216.121.11

Note:  We do know of a few troubles that Xplornet clients are having.  Some clients are telling me that there are times they can't get to our servers.  To try to fix this issue please follow the tip below.

If you are having issues having the account time out or stall this might help.

When you first open the FirstClass client and before you put in your UserID and password you want to make a change.

Get back to the setup window

At the very top of this window you see Connect via:  Local Network.fcp
Click those arrows beside the local Network.fcp  an you will see a selection that you need to choose either Internet or High_Speed Internet.fpc like below
Shaw and Telus users can use the High-Speed Internet.fcp
Xplornet or other wireless users should use Internet.fcp

Now click save at the bottom of the screen.  

Now try to log on and see if that fixed the issue.
